Problem to Solve

The objective of the personal project was to conduct a digital brush study concerning halftones and to flush out a completely original design from start to finish.

Creative SOLUTION

This concept was largely influenced by the art style of “retro futurism” most notably seen in such cinematic universes as Warner Bros’ Blade Runner and 20th Century Studio: Aliens whom were both directed by Ridley Scott. Another inspiration was The Order: 1886 by game developer: Ready at Dawn and Produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. I wanted to create a weapon that looked like it could be found in the trenches of World War 1 but also in the weathered hull of a ship floating in space.

This project would find continued use as the drawing was used as the basis of a 3D rendered model in AutoDesk Maya.
