Personal background
Biography
I grew up in the oilfield town of Midland, Texas with my two brothers and sister. I’ve always enjoyed art and creating. As far back as I can remember I have always loved the act of creating and imagination, whatever medium I might be using. In 2012 I entered the military and while in, began experimenting with digital art for the first time, opening a wonderful new world of possibilities. Currently I work at Lockheed Martin as a technical Illustrator for the F-16 and F-22 projects. My daily goal is to continually push to become more skilled in my craft.
Why i Create
I design primarily for 2 reasons. The first being because I simply love to create. The act of taking an intangible thought and bringing it into the physical world is such an invigorating experience. This joy of creating is greatly increased when I have the pleasure of doing it for someone else’s idea. I find so much enjoyment in that because I am able to use my talents and use them to help someone breath life into their very own idea. I get the honor of designing the visual representation something is presented to the world. It is such a humbling experience to serve people.
The second reason I design, is because I believe whole-heartedly that I am made for this. From a Christian perspective, according to the Bible (Psalms 139:13-16) we are fearfully and wonderfully made. In Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus tells about the Parable of the Talents. This passage of scripture changed the trajectory of my life. The summary of the parable is, the master (God) gave his servants talents and we have to give an account of what we did with them at the masters return. The wicked buried their talent and the righteous grew the talent given to him for a profit and was able to give his master a profit. For the majority of my life I had buried my talent and written it off as a useless “hobby.” After the Holy Spirit revealed and convicted me with this passage I changed the course of my life to invest in my talent in obedience to God. It was initially very scary but ever since then it has been nothing but an absolutely joyous experience and strengthened my faith.
That is why i create.
