Problem to Solve
I wanted to create my own visual identity mark. This would serve as creative mark to put on my personal works and to establish myself as my own brand.
Creative SOLUTION
I am heavily inspired by geometry and bold thick lines. Portland, Oregon based graphic designer legend Aaron Draplin has been a major inspiration to my creative journey. His use of incredible bold lines on simple geometric shapes has a timelessness to them that I often study. Another source of inspiration comes from ancient Greek mathematician, Euclid, known as the “Father of Geometry.” In high-school I grew an appreciation for geometry and the unique soundness of how shapes can interact with each other in a mathematically appealing relationship. Finally, and possibly outdated at this point, I love how this mark looks similarly to the “Hand of the King” lapel. A symbol of authority in the gritty HBO series transitioned into the wonderful world of graphic design is humorous to me.
